Frequently asked questions.
What is the Land Cruiser Destination Club (LCDC)?
The Land Cruiser Destination Club is a loosely-organized, informal community of people who love Land Cruisers, fun, family-friendly destinations, outdoor recreation, and trail conservation. For the past decade, people have been able to join LCDC by participating in our annual events held throughout Colorado — Breckenridge, Fort Collins, Ouray, and Telluride.
We held our 10th annual event in Ouray, CO during the summer of 2024, where we announced that LCDC X would be our last annual event.
While large scale events are over for LCDC, the community surrounding our events remains vibrant, active, and interested in future get togethers. We intend to do our part to support this community and facilitate communication among LCDC alumni.
What is the current status of LCDC?
We have no plans for future events. Instead, our focus is on supporting the wonderful community of LCDC alums and their families. Here’s what we’re currently exploring:
We’re looking into lightweight platforms (i.e. Signal, WhatsApp, etc.) to help LCDC alums connect to stay in touch, organize events, and be Land Cruiser nerds.
In addition to the point above about communication platforms, we’re happy to connect you with other drivers in case you were unable to exchange contact information and/or can’t find them on the forums or social media. Just email us who you’re looking for, we’ll do our best to find them, and we will make a mutual connection if both parties agree.
We may formalize LCDC as a club with membership benefits:
LCDC merchandise
Access to small-group trail runs and expedition-style adventures
LCDC sponsor discounts
Guaranteed registration for reunion events
Lastly, while we may not be organizing large events any longer, we still count ourselves part of the community and look forward to seeing folks at other events or simply running into you on the trail.
Questions? Ideas? Just let us know.
Why did you stop doing events?
It’s true that putting on a large event requires significant time and effort, but that’s not what drove our decision. We simply had an overwhelming sense that the time was right to close the current chapter of LCDC and end on a high note. The experience of running this event and bringing people together over the past ten years will certainly be one of the (hopefully many) highlights of our lives. Sometimes you just know that you need a change even if that change is tough.
We can still love Land Cruisers, be an awesome community, and hit the trails without having a large, organized event each summer. We’re looking forward to seeing what the spirit of LCDC brings to the community in the future.
Are there plans for events in the future?
There are no plans for events reminiscent of the typical large LCDC summer event.
Can I put on an LCDC event?
No, we kindly ask that you do not organize events or communities under the Land Cruiser Destination Club or LCDC name without approval from us.
All that said, we’re completely supportive of folks doing whatever they’d like to support the community via meetups, trail days, events — anything, really. Just don’t call it LCDC.
LCDC is not over and we are excited for this next chapter and what it may bring.
How can I get in touch with people I met at LCDC if there are no further events?
First, we recommend looking around all the usual places such as iH8Mud, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
If you still can’t locate someone, shoot us an email with your request and we’ll do our best to find that person and we’ll connect you if they agree that it’s okay for us to share their contact information with you.
Can I still be part of LCDC if there are no more events?
Yes, as long as you’ve attended a past LCDC event and are still interested in hearing from us. At some point we’ll update our mailing list and give people a chance to opt out of future newsletters and communications. Basically, if you’re currently on our mailing list, then you’ll receive any updates we think are worthy of your time.
Do you have any interesting stats about LCDC?
Why, yes, we do! We compiled some fun stats about the event as part of our trivia activity at LCDC X. Here they are for posterity.
There are roughly 1,250 people on the LCDC mailing list.
Over 500 trucks have joined an LCDC event with over 250 unique drivers. A total of over 1,500 people have participated in an LCDC event including drivers, family members, friends, and sponsors.
We’ve held 190 trail groups over the 10 years led by 120 trail leaders.
How many times has an LCDC attendee (drivers + family members) been on a trail as part of LCDC? At least 4,500 times but it could actually be quite a bit more. Numbers are hard.
As of 2024, we’ve donated nearly $20,000 to Tread Lightly! through our events.
